Accreditation
Accreditation is a voluntary, non-governmental peer review process by the higher education community that aims to assure academic quality and accountability and to encourage improvement.
The University of Georgia is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters, specialist, and doctoral degrees. Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097, or call 404-679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of the University of Georgia.
Please contact the Commission only if there is evidence that appears to support the University’s significant non-compliance with a requirement or standard. Other inquiries, such as admission requirements, financial aid, educational programs, etc., should be addressed directly to the University.
The Office of Academic Planning is administratively responsible for matters pertaining to the University’s accreditation, including coordination of the reaffirmation process. For more information, please contact Jan Wheeler, Associate Director for Accreditation, at 706-425-3285 or jwheeler@uga.edu.
